My adventures with faith, family, and food

Hello and welcome to my Blog! My name is Rebekah. I am wife to Ryne, mom to Riley and Sam (and Baby Bergren #dueMay2014), friend to many, and teacher to 33 4th graders.

In February of 2012 I was hospitalized with severe abdominal pain. A few days later, and a handful of test, I was diagnosed with Crohns disease. Although I have had my suspicions about my diagnosis, it did cause me to reevaluate my diet and begin the journey towards some lifestyle changes. Later that year, through our church, we enrolled in Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. It was one of the best things we have ever done in our marriage. Since then, we have slowly tried to implement his methods of paying off debt (for us, mainly student loans) and ultimately becoming debt free.

In the Summer of 2013, we moved our little family to Jacksonville, TX for my husbands new job. It wasn’t until the Fall of 2013 that we decided to really crack down on achieving some of our goals regarding: faith, finances, and food. My desire is to share and document some of our adventures along the way.

Let me be the first to say that I am NOT an expert in any of those things. Those who know me, know that I “cheat” on my diet sometimes occasionally, and sometimes daily. (Thanks pregnancy cravings :)) Sometimes I spend $10 where I really should have saved it, and sometimes I fall into the pit of laziness when it comes to my spiritual walk. However, I am thankful that God’s mercies are new every morning and that I have a wonderful husband to go on this journey with. I hope you find encouragement and ideas when you visit here and good luck with whatever adventures you find yourself in!
